Dakota 2000 is an established, rapidly growing IT network systems integrator providing turnkey solutions to a very diverse customer base including, but not limited to: individuals, cities, counties, schools, hospitals, tribal governments and many branches of the federal government. We provide a broad range of solutions that address critical organizational needs, such as networking, servers, IT security, VoIP, internet access, email, and surveillance systems.

We are looking for a Network Engineer that can thrive in a challenging and rewarding environment. This person will help design, implement, troubleshoot, analyze, and maintain networks, servers and computers. This person should be comfortable interfacing with customers.

This person will provide immediate technical assistance to local, internal, external, and national customers via phone, email, remote administration, and onsite appearance.

Essential Functions:

1.  Configures, tests, and maintains LAN/WAN equipments and related services; identifies, diagnoses, and resolves network problems.

2.  Maintains company’s LAN/WAN environment, Windows-based systems, business applications, anti-virus protection and email. Includes daily maintenance and problem resolution, operating system patches and software upgrades, and routine hardware configuration

3.  Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks

4.  Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support

5.  Assist in preparation of proposals and solution presentations

6.  Obtain and maintain required certifications for partnership with key vendors

Other Qualifications:

1.  Experience with Windows Server 2003/2008 environment implementing and administrating network devices, setting and maintaining policies and rights/security:

  • Cisco, SonicWALL and Fortinet Firewalls
  • Cisco, HP, and 3Com network switches
  • Cisco routers
  • VPN Configuration
  • Cisco, HP and 3Com Wireless Access Points
  • HP, Dell server platforms
  • Windows Server 2003/2008 Active Directory
  • Desktop and laptop installation and problem resolution in a Windows-based environment
  • Providing customer support

2.  Demonstrable competence including:

  • A thorough understanding of Ethernet, and TCP/IP networking
  • A practical level of experience implementing and administrating common TCP/IP-based services, including DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, SMTP, etc.
  • Working knowledge of common network monitoring and security utilities
  • Troubleshooting focused on determining hardware vs. software, hardware vs. firmware, software vs. operating system, network vs. application/systems, and patterned vs. non-repeatable problems

3.  Education/Training/Certifications:

  • 3+ years of network administration. 
  • Current CCNA or CCNP preferred.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and maintain industry knowledge.

4.  Physical:

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move all components of PC workstations, servers, network equipments, peripherals, and other ancillary equipment.
  • Ability to travel 25-50% of the time.
